My favorite photos always happen about five minutes after everyone stops trying to make everything perfect. The dog’s licking someone’s face, one of the kids is farting mid-hug, someone is trying to hold it together—and suddenly everyone’s laughing. That’s the moment when I click the shutter: when the pressure drops and it just feels like you. I’m based in Poultney and often travel through Middletown, Castleton, Dorset, and other small Vermont towns where these moments unfold.
